KOEDAM DESIGN had worked with our beautiful clients over the past 30 years. When they moved into a glorious 1860's home in Mc Masons Point, we immediately worked on their new home to make the move perfect. A few years after their original move, the clients wanted to renovate their kitchen. They loved cooking and entertaining, they wanted to share their home with friends and family.
The Interior design, contractors and joinery design was finalised before a long awaited overseas holiday and all demolition, building work and installation of this kitchen joinery were achieved while our clients were away and project managed by KOEDAM DESIGN.
Our clients came home to the completed project, where we brought in commercial cleaners to clean and add the polish to the home after the renovation, flowers and furniture were placed and the fridge was filled with some essentials to make their return all that more special...it is the little details that are important to us!
After much discussion, the clients and Susan Koedam came to the decision to retain the details of the original home and it's era, By bringing these details through in to this cossy kitchen and family eating area, we were able to rearrange the existing kitchen into a highly functional kitchen where family are brought together to cook and be entertained. Two seperate joinery units were designed to add extra storage to a small kitchen and to look like antique kitchen dressers. One dresser houses a bar fridge, bottles and glasses for a compact, but efficient bar area. The other dresser housed our client's collection of crockery, glass and ceramics, plus the day to day crockery and cutlery.
The fun and intrinsic detail to the open kitchen cabinet doors was added with unfinished metal chicken wire, something quite different that the client loved. Next to the refrigerator, a breakfast bar and appliance cupboard was added. This means that the owners can be super efficient getting breakfast together, while trying to get to work in the mornings. This sun filled space opened onto a terrace with the borrowed details of an old factory brickwork wall. The bifold doors open up the terrace and kitchen to be able to accommodate for a large number of guests.
Beautiful metal tables & chairs continued the traditional details through from the interior to the exterior spaces to add continuity to the design.
The client were absolutely thrilled with their new space...and so is KOEDAM DESIGN!
