This Specialist Orthodontics Surgery, was the fourth commercial and residential project KOEDAM DESIGN hadworkedwith this client on.
A new business and site was procured by the Doctor, to become the headquarters of his expanding practice. KOEDAM DESIGN worked with the Doctor, staff and fitout company on reviewing the plan layouts. We worked on all specifications of finishes and materials for the practice, taking into account the building code regulations, anti bacterial properties, ease of cleaning and maintenance and their visual impact on the overall scheme.
The curved reception counter and patient counter joinery design was an important factor of our design brief. We worked with our client and IT consultant on not only the visual look, but the patient comfort while at the counter and the technical requirements. This curved counter formed part of the reception space, which we incorporated into a curved waiting space with custom designed and made joinery that included a glass display cabinets for handmade glass sculptures, magazine display and toy storage. A special check-in pod was designed as well as an iPad bench where children could play games while wait for their appointment or a family member. A custom circular rug was designed for the waiting area that incorporated the logo plus custom seating was installed.
For our client, it was most important to have an efficient and high functioning practise but to be also a bright and fun place for his patients to come and feel relaxed during their visits and consultations. His other important item was for his staff to enjoy coming to work, the space had to take into their needs too. We created a bright space, with an amazing array of colours, adapted from the corporate logo and used throughput in a full palette of wall paints, vinyl footing and artwork.
KOEDAM DESIGN specified and installed a series of amazing artwork of an English macro photography artist. We used images of water bubbles on oil and interesting natural items, such as leaves and flowers, that had been photographed using macro lense. This continued the colour theme and detail of interesting detail throughout.
Flooring was another feature of the design. Different colours were utilised in the vinyl, as well as curved shapes continued the flow of the energy and floor plan. Curves became an important design detail throughout the fitout, linking all areas and spaces together!
